Learning to Lead the Religious Services

The "Learning" menu item under "Services" enables you to download sound and text files for Shabbat, weekday, and holiday (chagim) services. The sound files are geared toward instruction rather than as the recording of an actual service.

Both the Shabbat and Weekday links open up new pages with separate files for Shacharit, Mincha and Maariv services (and Musaf and Kabbalat Shabbat for Shabbat). In general, the sound files (mp3) are very large (>5 mb, some as large as 40 mb) and may take time to download. The weekday services also have the full text of the siddur as well as short guides to the nusach. The Shabbat sound files are keyed to Siddur Sim Shalom for Shabbat and Festivals.

The section on chagim only contains specific pieces of the services for the shalosh regalim (Sukkot, Pesach, Shavuot) (e.g. Hallel).

The page also contains a text file for learning the "Tefillah 2000" service. This file has a page-by-page description of the way in which the T2K service should be conducted.

Anyone interested in learning to lead the High Holy Day services should contact Hazzan Menes (hazzanmenes@bethshalomkc.org).
